Despacito was first released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017 and became the number one streamed track in just 6 months. This mix of reggaeton and pop music did not just draw an interest to this genre but as well to Latin music generally. The Billboard Top 100 featured two songs in Spanish mostly, and four in 2016. In 2017, at the height of popularity for Despacito, 19 tracks mainly in Spanish were included in the Top 100. By 2020 the number will increase to 41 songs in this category. Justin Bieber's remix in two languages Despacito was released in 2017. After that, some of the most popular artists started collaborating with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny to create MIA (2018) in addition to Madonna was a part of Maluma to create Medellin. Reggaeton's mainstreaming was a concern for some performers in the year 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, determined to maintain the style. It was often associated with electronic dance and other styles.
