Dolly-Parton
Born on Jan. 19 1946 Locust Ridge Tenn into a poor family that would eventually include 12 children Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the challenges of her life by using her vivid and expansive imagination. Before she could write and read, she was making up her own songs. After 8 years of age, she had her very first guitar. In the age of 11 she started singing on Knoxville Tenn's radio station. In the same year, she recorded her debut album on Gold Band Records an independent small-scale label. Her name was made on the local circuit while in high school but she dreamed of a bigger stage. The singer moved to Nashville the day after graduating in 1964. Dumb Blonde was her first single to reach the top of the charts for the first time on Monument Records. Around this time, Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on his television show that was syndicated. Parton joined RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She accepted her job in 1967. In 1974, she resigned from Wagoner's show due to the commercial success of her singles like Joshua Coats from Many Colors or Jolene was outstripping their joint releases. Parton following the breakup of their relationship with Wagoner she wrote the song"I'll Always Be Loved" by You and had it reach the top spot at No. #1 for the first time since 1974.
